The Medical Field Is Always Advancing. Research Is Providing

The medical field is always advancing. Research is providing new means of improvement and brand new technology. The technology is then used to help patients recover and prevent diseases. Research and Development teams spend their entire careers testing and building new innovations to help the field progress. Luckily, a new modern technology has been developed. What is this technology? The 3D printer. 3D printers are surprisingly older than people think. They first started in the late 1980’s and have rapidly progressed. Now the 3D printer has various applications in many fields such as business, technology, medical field, etc. Many social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook; and news sources have stated that 3D printing technology have†¦show more content†¦The study found that the students that used the 3D printed model had a richer learning experience. The technology allows the medical students to better learn the different physical structures and organs. It also always them to practice different medical procedures and operations. Indeed, the technology will help effectively train more capable doctors. Another application is the ability to print models of patient’s organs and specifically plan the surgery. For instance, surgeons used an MRI to scan a patient’s brain and print an exact replica. A surgery was needed to remove a tumor. The surgeons could see the depth of the tumor and specific details. This technology allows them to plan and practice the surgical procedures for each patient’s case. (see image above) The 3D printing technology has improved how doctors can plan and practice to be able to perform precise procedures. Also, the 3D printing technology provides medical schools with a less expensive alternative to using cadavers. Cadaver are difficult to acquire, store, and need to be disposed of at certain times. High quality 3D printers are a little pricy, but are more cost effective. This is due to the availability of digital files of different models of organs online. With the rising demand of 3D printers, the price is going down and becoming even more affordable for medical schools.
